Skin Differences: Man and Woman
A man's skin is about 25 percent thicker than that of a woman. Androgens (i.e. testosterone), increases skin thickness. The skin texture on a man is rougher, and the Stratum Corneum is thicker. Men have a higher collagen density than women. In theory men's skin should look 15 years younger comparative to a woman of the same age. However, in general women take better care of their skin. Women tend to use use more sunblock. UV radiation can add years to the skin, today, men are more inclined to take better care of their skin.

Collagen and ageing
In men and women, wrinkles and laxity to the tissue, are closely related to the collagen content of the skin. Both men and women lose about one percent of their collagen per year after their 30th birthday.

Collagen cannot be formed without ascorbic acid
which is essential to the body in order to produce collagen. Collagen is the body's most important structural substance and is intimately connected with the entire ageing process. Lack of ascorbic acid means a lack of collagen, and a lack of collagen leads to ageing.

Importance of Ascorbic Acid
Our daily intake of Ascorbic acid is equal to the amount of collagen we can produce naturally. Not all ascorbates are created equal. C6H8O6 is manufactured naturally by most animals, but not in man. Ascorbic acid and the Skin
Sufficient Ascorbic acid intake is essential to skin health, both as an anti-oxidant and as a critical factor for collagen synthesis. Though not a UV blocker, it is needed for photo‐protection against sun damage and promotes adequate wound healing.
